The Indiana Association of Cities and Towns (IACT) named Representative John Price recipient of IACT’s 2014 Legislator of the Year Award. Price represents a large portion of White River Township and surrounding communities. The award was presented during the 2014 IACT Annual Conference & Exhibition in Fort Wayne.
Price was noted for his Prices’ clear understanding of local issues. From his many years in Johnson County Government and service on the House Local Government Committee, Representative Price understands that a one-size-fits-all approach to city and town government is not going to work. IACT stated.
“Representative Price has been a true friend to local government. He knows that city and town officials need flexibility to lead and he has tried to give us more tools to do our job with greater efficiency. Whether proposing new revenue options to better zoning laws in connection with annexations, Representative Price has really gone above and beyond. He’s been a sincere advocate for local leaders. ” said Lewis.
Prior to be elected to the statehouse Price served as Chairman of the Johnson County Board of Commissions for four years, the Johnson County Council and the White River Advisory Board for a total of 14 years. Representative Price serves on the Financial Institutions, Local Government and Veterans Affairs and Public Safety committees.
The Indiana Association of Cities and Towns (IACT) is a coalition of municipal officials who seek to improve the quality of life in Indiana through effective government, and is a member of the National League of Cities. Founded in 1891, IACT is one of the oldest state municipal organizations in the country, with 470 cities and towns as members.
