Fundraiser set this Saturday to aid Center Grove High School student
In early July, 15 year old Daniel Sage was walking along State Road 135 when his head was hit by the mirror on an SUV. Daniel suffered three skull fractures, two broken clavicles, and many complications. Emergency personnel rushed him to Riley Hospital where he spent three weeks in a medically induced coma. Only after coming out of the medically induce coma were doctors able to ascertain the lasting impact of his injuries. After intensive therapy Daniel came home on August 15. He may be home but he still has a long road ahead filled with therapy and possibly more surgeries and certainly more medical bills.
The worst of the medical challenges may be past however now his family needs help covering his medical costs. To help cover the medical costs area friends have organized the “Strength in Numbers Blood Drive & Fundraising Event.”
The event, set for this Saturday August 24, from noon to 4pm at the Center Grove Presbyterian Church (2340 S. State Road 135, Greenwood) will raise funds to help cover Daniel’s medical expense. In addition to $10 haircuts from Paul Mitchell School, visitors can enjoy carnival games, a bounce house, Ella’s Frozen Yogurt, and participate in a silent auction that includes a “competition orange” 2004 Ford Mustang valued at $7,000.
The event will also benefit the Indiana Blood Center. The Center will be onsite during the event accepting donations. Attendees are encouraged to pre-register to donate blood. Registrations can me made online at bit.ly/dsblooddrive.
