“We’re all in this together
And it shows
When we stand
Hand in hand
Make our dreams come true”
Few words have ever been more fitting than when several leads from Center Grove Middle School North’s 2020 production of Disney’s hit, “High School Musical”, united with their 2024 counterparts for an inspiring finale singing, “We’re All in This Together.”
In 2020, CGMSN’s planned production of this musical was well underway in rehearsals, but, like so many other events, the pandemic brought down the curtain.
Center Grove High School senior and MSN Drama Club choreographer, Brooklyn Bruner, was to play the role of Martha.
“When our 8th grade show was canceled, I was devastated,” Bruner says. “We had worked so hard, and we were so excited about being able to perform.”
As the 2024 production was being discussed, it seemed like the perfect time to revive the show, but with a clever and meaningful twist – inviting the previously selected cast members, now in the denouement of their high school careers, to perform alongside.
“The show concept came together naturally with this year being the four-year anniversary and most of the main cast being seniors. It really seemed like the perfect year,” Tori Sigafoes says, MSN Choir and Drama Director. “I was initially a little nervous asking the students to come back, but they were all really excited and helpful. I think they remembered how impactful drama club was to their middle school experience, and they got the opportunity to be that impact for the current middle school students.”
“It was a heartwarming experience on opening night when the audience started applauding the moment the high school students walked onto the stage!” Sigafoes says.
The performances took place on April 12th and 13th.
