New Fitness Studio Celebrates Grand Opening In Carmel

“Eat a live frog first thing in the morning and nothing worse will happen to you the rest of the day,” is a quote attributed to American humorist Mark Twain and the philosophy behind a new fitness studio in Carmel.

Eat The Frog Fitness, located at 12751 N. Pennsylvania Street, is filled with bright green equipment, two IMAX sized screens and energy that goes on 24 hours a day and seven days a week. Joining its sister site on Massachusetts Avenue in Indianapolis, it is one of the first franchises in a new fitness training company.

“The frog is your worst task, the thing you don’t want to do, but need to get it out of the way,” says Assistant Manager Daniel Frausto, Jr. “For many people, their frog is working out. It’s something they know they must do and once they do it, they not only feel better that day but feel better for life.”

Frausto’s father, Daniel Frausto, recently retired from Eli Lilly and Company and has a passion for fitness. The concept for Eat The Frog Fitness resonated with him and he decided to own a franchise. Developed by Olympic Decathlon Gold and Silver Medalist Bryan Clay, it is geared toward people of all fitness levels. The first class is always free and if individuals chose to join the studio, they are given a fitness level assessment based on their flexibility, upper body fitness, lower body fitness and endurance.

Then, based on age and gender, an eight-week program is created that educates as well as outlines training. Members rotate through different stations of bikes, rowing machines and weights during both live classes and virtual ones shown on the huge screens. The science-based sessions offered focus on strength, cardio and flex core. At the conclusion of a program, a post fitness evaluation is given to create another program geared to specific needs and goals.

“One thing that sets the studio apart from others is that it is open 24 hours a day,” Frausto says. “It’s perfect for people with crazy schedules like nurses. One member is a bar manager that gets off at 3 a.m. and he wants to work out before he goes home.”

The studio has some other unique aspects. During both virtual and live classes, the studio has technology to track the heart rate of participants. By viewing the data shown on monitor screens, individuals know if they should push harder or perhaps slow down. Points are given for each class member that attends and for how hard they worked based on the heart rate technology. The points feed into a reward system where discount cards to business partners such as beauty salons or restaurants are earned.

The studio offers different price points based on how many life classes are taken per month. Membership ranges from $99 to $159. All packages include unlimited virtual classes that are held at the top of each hour, day or night.

“We are excited to be one of the first franchises. There are even more Eat The Frog franchises set to open around the area,’ Frausto says. “It’s going to help more people recognize our name. And it is a name that stays on people’s minds and makes them ask questions.”
