Free Musical Performances Bring Brownsburg Together

Connecting with God through music, Calvary United Methodist Church has created Calvary Concerts, giving people the opportunity to come together in Brownsburg and enjoy free musical performances to unite the community.

Calvary Concerts will offer free concert events to the public, providing access to quality music and entertainment to the Brownsburg community.

Calvary Concerts is in its inaugural season, creating an opportunity to showcase six performances by local and regionally known musicians and ensembles. The Calvary Concerts’ 2026-27 season is currently underway, having already hosted its first concert, Brothers of a Chord, an award-winning Central Indiana barbershop quartet, on Oct. 4.

The next concert will be Nov. 15, showcasing Josh Kaufman, a talented Indianapolis singer and songwriter who won Season 6 of NBC’s “The Voice.” Kaufman will perform a variety of gospel, inspirational and heartfelt songs that will transcend the audience on a journey filled with faith, hope and the joy of music.

“With the Hendricks Symphony Orchestra and Theatre for Christ moving to other venues, Brownsburg residents have to travel to see good performances. We’ve assembled a fantastic lineup of quality music from several different genres. The range is from barbershop quartet to TV star Josh Kaufman, the handbell choir from Purdue, and the Indianapolis Brass Choir. By offering free concerts, we hope to draw in people who don’t have access any other way,” says Joy Starks, production manager of Calvary Concerts.

Calvary United Methodist Church is excited to offer these special free Sunday afternoon concerts, bringing the community together in Calvary’s sanctuary to give guests a one-of-a-kind experience.

“Performances will be held in Calvary’s sanctuary. The venue creates a welcoming space where neighbors can gather, connect and experience uplifting performances that reflect the church’s commitment to service. Through diverse artistic programming, Calvary Concerts seeks to strengthen community bonds and shine a light of hope, joy and unity in Brownsburg. The church has ample free parking and is easy to get to, and the sanctuary is accessible to people with disabilities. The church’s world-class pipe organ sits directly in front and will be used in our Christmas program, along with the church’s other instruments. The sanctuary seats around 400, and the venue creates an engaging atmosphere between the artists and audience,” says Starks.

Upcoming shows in the 2026-27 inaugural Calvary Concerts series include Season 6 winner of “The Voice,” Josh Kaufman, on Nov. 15; Christmas at Calvary, a Christmas program featuring the musical talents of Calvary that celebrates the birth of Christ, on Dec. 6; the Indianapolis Brass Choir, a large brass ensemble of musicians, on Jan. 31; Purdue Bells, an ensemble that uses five octaves of Schulmerich and Whitechapel handbells and choir chimes, on Sunday, Feb. 28; and Sounds of Africa on Sunday, April 11.

“Each season, we plan to have a featured performer/artist. This year we have Josh Kaufman coming in November. There will be other surprises that go along with some of the programs. For example, we passed out popcorn and hats at the barbershop quartet program in October,” says Starks.

With this being Calvary Concerts’ inaugural season, Calvary United Methodist Church is hoping to generate buzz and bring more community awareness to Calvary Concerts. The best way for people to get involved is to spread the word about Calvary Concerts’ upcoming shows by telling friends, family and neighbors.
