We all know how important it is to shop local these days, but sometimes we forget how crucial it is to shop secondhand as well. Thrifting has become a popular pastime, and local shops are providing one-of-a-kind pieces that are special and sustainable. All of these shops can be visited in the Broad Ripple area in one day, and each have unique finds that you wouldn’t be able to stumble upon anywhere else. Happy thrifting!

Rebel Vintage

Go VintageLocated at 54th Street and the Monon Trail, Rebel Vintage offers curated secondhand pieces that are unique and truly vintage. Started by Tori Sandler and Sara Baldwin in the spring of 2019, Rebel Vintage has brought the south Broad Ripple community select finds, and the owners take the time to source items from other local vendors who are talented in finding the perfect items. Their shop offers vintage dresses, shoes, accessories, and even children’s items and home decor. Vendor Gretchen Foster provides pieces from her Mama Ochre line, featuring loungewear and more. Rebel Vintage also hosts pop-up events throughout the year with other vintage vendors and local business owners as a testament to their focus on community.

The Corner Bazaar

The Corner Bazaar is located along the Monon Trail at 52nd Street, and provides an eclectic array of vintage goods and items. Owner Sheryl Selvey curates antiques with a focus on mid-century, but also has a vast array of pieces for everyone. Corner Bazaar has a large collection of music on vinyl, vintage clothing, and uncommon home decor and furniture pieces. Selvey specializes in rare finds, and customers will stumble upon fascinating items at every turn. If you’re looking for pieces that are hard to come by, or are a fanatic collector of mid-century objects, The Corner Bazaar should be at the top of your list of places to visit.

Vintage 54 Collective

Vintage 54 Collective is located in the lower level of the Barrel Building between Winthrop Avenue and the Monon Trail. This spot is definitely a hidden gem in the area, and the space is quaint and inviting. Independent vendors and collectors make up the inventory of Vintage 54 Collective and provide a wide range of home decor, kitchen supplies, drinkware and more. They also have a large selection of vinyl records to peruse, as well as art pieces and local trinkets. The inventory changes regularly so it’s definitely a spot to check out frequently.

French Pharmacie Flea

Located next to its sister establishment, French Pharmacie Salon, this antique shop looks like it is straight out of a Parisian street. French Pharmacie Flea offers high-end and rare furniture and home decor pieces that make for a unique living space. Items are gathered from estate sales and auctions, and are carefully selected to create an exclusive inventory in a boutique-style atmosphere. They also have a selection of greeting cards that are perfect for any occasion, so if you’re in the shop looking for a secondhand gift, you can pick up a card as well.

Broad Ripple Vintage is what comes to mind when thinking of a classic thrift store. Walking in, your eyes are overtaken by the amount of color, posters on the wall and eclectic vibe of the space. Broad Ripple Vintage offers unique clothing items, costume pieces and more, generally from the 1960s to the 1990s. The shop has a large selection of graphic T-shirts, jackets, and lots of accessories to choose from. While the building itself is small, the amount of inventory they carry will have you searching for great finds for hours.

The Toggery

The Toggery is a secondhand consignment shop that provides high-end and name-brand pieces, as well as athleisure, designer and couture items, and a large selection of shoes. The items they accept to resell are of high quality and generally in season, and inventory changes regularly.
