5K Rib Run Moves to July 4

Rib FestThe Avon Chamber of Commerce has been closely monitoring the ever-evolving COVID-19 crisis. In accordance with Governor Eric Holcomb’s Five Stage plan to reopen the State of Indiana, and after consulting with the Rib Fest Committee and the Avon Chamber of Commerce Executive Board, the Annual Hendricks County Rib Fest & Balloon Glow scheduled for June 27, 2020 has been canceled.

The Avon Chamber of Commerce is planning to have a fireworks celebration instead on Saturday, July 4. More details are to come.

“This is a great way for the Avon Community to come together and celebrate a new beginning,” says Tom Downard, Executive Director of the Avon Chamber of Commerce. “There has been a lot of discussion on how we could continue this event, and we felt this was the best way to make it happen.”

The 5k Rib Run sponsored by IU Health West has moved to July 4 at 8:00 a.m. The Avon Chamber of Commerce has partnered with RaceMaker Productions to provide both onsite and remote options for people to participate in the family fun 5k.

“This decision was not made lightly or without extensive conversation amongst our Committee, our Executive Board and the Hendricks County 4-H Fairgrounds,” Downard adds. “We look forward to being back in June 2021. It will be bigger, it will be better, and it will be filled with hugs, fun and people licking BBQ sauce off their fingers.”

The Hendricks County Rib Fest & Balloon Glow will be back on June 26, 2021, at the Hendricks County 4-H Fairgrounds in Danville.

Those interested in sponsorship of the fireworks celebration please contact the Chamber office at 317-272-4333 or by e-mail info@avonchamber.org with any questions.
