Territorial Engineering LLC – Walkerton

Local Company Brings Decades of Experience to the Surveying and Civil Engineering Fields Photography Provided Robert Aloi, managing partner and professional land surveyor with Territorial Engineering LLC in Walkerton, says his firm offers its customers many years of experience. Aloi says it’s been that way since Territorial Engineering began. The firm’s high-quality work has resulted in positive feedback and repeat business from loyal clients. “Territorial Engineering has been in the business of land surveying and civil engineering consulting for 42 years,” Aloi says. “The business was started in 1978 by my business partner, Van H. Janovic. I became a partner in 2001. I started out with Van as a civil engineer, and later learned to love the art and challenge of land surveying, and how the two disciplines are critical to the successful development of a piece of land. An accurate initial boundary survey and topographic survey affect how a project is designed and engineered.” Territorial Engineering offers a full range of civil engineering and land surveying services for their clients. “On the surveying side, we specialize in boundary and topographic surveys, including but not limited to American Land Title Association and National Society Professional Surveyors land title surveys, Wetland Reserve Program surveys, elevation certificates, wildlife habitat classifications and construction staking,” Aloi says. “We are also Indiana Department of Transportation pre-qualified in topographic data collection, non-complex road design, and right-of-way plan development.” Territorial Engineering can also handle site development work. “Our civil engineering department specializes in site development projects that take a project from an inspiration to completion,” Aloi says. “Typical site projects include plans, specifications and permitting for sanitary sewer, water, roadway systems designs, storm water system design, erosion and sediment control, and construction management.” The company is able to undertake surveying for municipal projects. “We are capable of providing civil engineering services on a large municipal project such as a water line extension and a residential subdivision design for a private developer, down to a simple driveway plan for a homeowner,”Aloi says. Territorial Engineering also works in specialty field equipment. “We utilize Trimble GPS and robotic total stations for most of our field work, as well as total stations and levels,” Aloi says. “We also have a boat and utility terrain vehicle to access both land and water projects more efficiently. We use civil 3D engineering and surveying software to complement and complete the engineering and surveying projects we deliver to our clients.” Territorial Engineering’s recent projects involve some of the lakes in the local vicinity. “Some of the more interesting projects we are doing now are setting vertical benchmarks at some of the lakes in the area, and completing some large Wetland Reserve Program surveys,” Aloi says. “We are also surveying and designing a couple residential subdivisions for some private developers. Territorial Engineering is also donating our engineering and surveying services to complete a Veterans Memorial Plaza at the courthouse in Knox, Indiana.” Territorial Engineering, which is located in Starke County, enjoys repeat business from several clients. “We do repeat business with several state agencies and local municipalities, as well as some local developers,” Aloi says. “We also regularly team up with other engineering firms throughout the state providing needed survey data for their projects.” Aloi says he continues to enjoy his work at Territorial Engineering, and in particular he appreciates seeing a project through from the early stages to completion. “Land surveying and civil engineering is a pretty diverse field,” he says. “Our clients rely on us to measure precisely so that they can be successful with their own projects. From completing a boundary survey that shows a property’s complete characteristics, to seeing a project design successfully built from beginning to end, it is a challenge that is very rewarding.” Territorial Engineering is located at 7908 North State Highway 23 in Walkerton.
