Indiana is full of ways to stay active indoors or outdoors all year long. Despite there being no mountains or oceans, Indiana is full of adventure for all ages, offering plenty of fun for families staying here in the Hoosier state during spring break.
Dive In
If you’re not heading to the beach, the next best thing is a warm indoor pool. Goldfish Swim School has family swim nights that are such a great way to brush up on skills between lessons and have fun with the whole family! Over Spring Break, they’ll have free swim Monday through Friday from 12 to 1 p.m. and Friday nights 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Switch Gears
I recently checked out K1 Speed with my husband for our monthly date nights. It’s a cool indoor kart racing facility with lots of IMS memorabilia and plenty of space to have a big group hang out. They also have rooms for parties, food, a pool table and arcade games! The all-electric go-karts are pretty fast, but their top priority is safety and there are many rules in place to make sure drivers are safe. Check out Groupon for some great discounts.

Reach New Heights
Rock climbing is an awesome way to work on strength and agility. Check out Hoosier Heights Indianapolis where you can enjoy a fun and challenging climb. It’s only $25 for a first time day pass which includes all gear rental and a lesson from a professional to “show you the ropes.”

Like Riding a Bike
Bike rental is prevalent around Indiana! Pretty much any town you go to you can find a local bike share. Indianapolis and The Monon are great places to rent a bike and see lots of stuff while enjoying a nice, spring day.
Tee Off
Whether you like golf or not, Topgolf is fun for all ages. Located in Fishers at 116th, off I-69, Topgolf is sure to delight the entire family. Make sure to reserve a bay beforehand to lessen a wait time. The earlier in the day you go, the better deal you get! They have also offered half-day golf academies (camps) over spring break in the past.

Find Adventure
If you’re looking to do a few days of adventuring in nature Strawtown Koteewi Park is the place to go! They’ve got archery, a ropes course, zip lining, horseback riding and hiking. Last year, my family and I camped at White River Campgrounds and brought our bikes. It was an easy bike ride over to check out the ropes course and we met a few horses giving rides on our way. The campsite also has a creek that is part of the White River and it’s perfect for creek stomping (I suggest wearing water shoes as the rocks are slippery).

Plan a Trip
Planning on staying in town over Spring Break but want to make a vacation out of it? From hotels to cabins, there are tons of hot spots for a weekender trip or the entire week.
Nashville
One of our favorite places to hike in Indiana is Nashville. You can find lots of hilly hiking trails, fishing, camping and nature programs. If you’re not interested in camping, Abe Martin Lodge has hotel rooms and family cabins.

Columbus
Columbus is one of those places every Hoosier should visit. They’ve got a very family-friendly city. Zaharakos Old-fashioned Ice Cream Parlor, Commons Playground, Kids Commons, Columbus Community Children’s Museum, paddle boating at Cera Park and Atterbury-Bakalar Air Museum. There are also really nice parks for canoeing, hiking and fishing.
Fort Wayne
Spring break hotel packages and special events are there for the taking, and it’s just a quick jaunt north. Fort Wayne offers shopping, dining, performing arts, museums and plenty of parks and trails. There’s also The Fort Wayne Zoo, Science Central, the Botanical Conservatory, Museum of Art or you can rent bikes and see the whole downtown from wheels!
