Delmar Hostetler, owner of Sunrise Plastics, 2875 S. 375 W., LaGrange, Indiana, says he feels very blessed with his life.
“I’m very fortunate that I’m able to do a lot of work that I enjoy,” he says. “We are a unique business that makes DecorLite, ultraviolet (UV)-printed polyvinyl (PVC) wall panels. They are seamless, waterproof wall and ceiling panels. They are easy to clean and easy to install.”
Hostetler says 10 different patterns are available.
“We have up to 10 feet of length with our panels,” he says. “Our customers really love them. I work very hard to make sure our customers are satisfied, and it’s been that way since we started.”
Sunrise Plastics began in 2017.
“The history of the business began with me being a hobbyist like my dad,” Hostetler says. “I did a lot of woodworking and took my hobby and started doing woodwork for different people.”
Hostetler also worked at an RV factory and later learned how to make plastic cabinets out of high-density materials.
“I have a small hobby shop, and I got hooked on making cabinets and other items,” he says. “I think it’s a blast to work on different projects. I later learned more about manufacturing, and I feel like God led me to this niche market. People have responded very well to my work.”
By 2016, Hostetler gave up woodworking and decided to work on other projects.
“In 2017, I switched over to plastics,” Hostetler says. “We are a very diverse company. We can do home furnishings, stairways, window trims and wall liner panels. We also do door trims and Polytech doors.
Customers have responded positively to the different work that we can do.” Sunrise Plastics also works on different cabinets.“We can make kitchen cabinets, bathroom cabinets and other items around the house,” he says. “They also look great.”
Hostetler added that Sunrise Plastics is also a one-stop shop.
“We help the homeowner by doing different jobs under one roof,” he says. “It’s more convenient for the homeowner with our own installation crew.”
Sunrise Plastics can work on all home furnishings at the same time and save homeowners money in the process.
“My older brother, David, who has been an inspiration to me, does the woodworking on a home, and I handle the Poly part,” Hostetler says. “We have the same crew, and we can get everything done under one roof. It saves customers a lot of time and money. They don’t have to go to different people to get work done.”
Hostetler noted that the winter months can be slower on some outdoor new construction work projects, but there is still work that can be done on a home inside.
“We can still work in a kitchen, bathroom or other room,” he says. “We can also do work on a secondary kitchen.”
Loving The LaGrange Community
Hostetler says he loves living in LaGrange, Indiana.
“This community is blessed with a lot of farmers,” he says. “I have a small farm myself, and we raise what crops we can here. My wife and I are blessed with six children, that range in ages from 13 to 4 years old. God has been very good to me and my family. We couldn’t be happier here.”
Hostetler has been fortunate to be able to expand his shop.
“In 2018, I added on to my shop, and made it 24 by 32 feet,” he says. “The man who was doing the adding on told me he would be back in five years to add on more space to the shop. He was that confident in me; I laughed, but he turned out to be right. I wound up making the shop even bigger. That’s the kind of good luck that you just can’t beat.”
