I believe deeply in public education. I went to public schools myself, and both my mother and grandmother were public school teachers. Growing up, I saw how much my mom cared about her students and how strongly she believed education could change lives.
I chose Center Grove for my own family because I believe strong public schools are the backbone of a strong community. Public education gives every child the opportunity to learn, grow, and shape their own future, no matter where they come from. Every student’s journey is unique, and whatever path they choose, we need to make sure Center Grove students leave school with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to support themselves and contribute to their community.
My commitment to Center Grove began long before I ever thought about being on the School Board. My husband and I chose to raise our family here because of the great schools, and both of our sons recently graduated from Center Grove. I wanted to give back, so I served four years on the Center Grove Education Foundation Board, including a term as President, helping raise funds for programs and experiences for students and teachers. I later participated in the CG Ambassadors program, gaining a deeper understanding of the district, its programs, planning, and finances.
When a vacancy arose on the School Board in 2024, I saw another opportunity to serve. I stepped up, applied, and was honored to be chosen from 25 applicants. I knew then that becoming an effective board member came with a significant learning curve and that continuity mattered. After more than two years of actually doing the work, I know that to be true. I’ve learned a great deal about school finance, state requirements, curriculum, facilities, staffing, policy, and the many issues that come before a school board. I’ve taken that responsibility seriously, and I’m proud of what I’ve been able to contribute.
My professional background shapes how I approach the work. I began my career as a CPA after earning degrees in accounting and finance from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business. I later earned my MBA from Kelley and built a career in strategy, marketing, organizational change, and executive leadership. I’ve worked with businesses, boards, universities, nonprofits, and government partners to solve complex problems and make thoughtful decisions.
I bring that same approach to the School Board. I ask questions to understand the numbers, assumptions, and reasoning behind a recommendation. I consider both today’s needs and the long-term financial and operational impact of our decisions. Most importantly, I keep students and the long-term interests of our community at the center of all my decisions.
I am running to retain my seat because I want to continue serving Center Grove. We have a great deal to be proud of, and I want to help build on that progress while making sure we continue to meet the changing needs of our students, teachers, families, and community. I would be honored to continue contributing for the next four years.
