Westfield Washington Schools will once again celebrate the start of the school year with the fourth annual “Rock the Block,” an official kickoff to 2025-26 at Westfield High School.
On Aug. 1, from 5 to 7:30 p.m., Westfield will gear up for another year of growth, connection and excellence.
It’s a free, family-friendly event to bring students, families, staff, local businesses and community organizations together for an evening of games, activities and engagement.
“Rock the Block is our way of bringing together the entire Westfield community as we prepare for another year of excellence,” said Ashley Knott, director of communications and engagement for Westfield Washington Schools. “It’s more than just a celebration — it’s a chance for families to connect with the incredible people, programs and partners that support our school year-round.”
A variety of community members will host resource booths, ranging from school clubs, athletic teams and other programs to local businesses and nonprofits.
They’re tasked with offering an informational display, a free activity and possibly a small giveaway item like treats, swag or school supplies.
“Booths typically include games like spin wheels, cornhole, Plinko, cup scramble and more,” said Michele Arndt, community engagement assistant. “School clubs and athletic team booths are free.”
Other booth hosts will offer community resources for families, but all are celebrating the values, connections and collaborations they have with the school corporation.
“Whether you’re a local business looking to give back, a nonprofit offering vital resources or a school club ready to energize the crowd, there’s a place for you at this special event,” Knott said.
In addition, local food trucks will be on hand for a quick snack, and Market District will hand out free hot dogs to the first 1,200 attendees.
Sponsors include Westfield Cyclesport, Market District, Coca-Cola Consolidated, Republic Services, Tom Roush Mazda, David Weekley Homes and Breathe Easy Hamilton County.
“Their investment in our schools and students is a powerful reminder of what makes Westfield a strong and supportive community,” Knott said.
Westfield Washington Schools is one of the fastest-growing school districts in Indiana. They serve more than 10,000 students across six elementary schools, one intermediate school, one middle school and one high school.
The district has been rated “A” by the Indiana Department of Education, and with a team of approximately 1,600 educators and staff, it is committed to excellence in education and whole-child development.
They currently rank in the top 3 percent of high schools nationwide, according to U.S. News & World Report, boasting a 98 percent graduation rate and 87 percent of graduates continuing their education.
“Our vision — All Rocks are Life Ready — is driven by our mission to ensure high levels of learning and growth for each student. We focus on three pillars: academic achievement, career readiness and student wellness,” Knott said.
The first day back to school is Aug. 7, 2025.
