Judge Nation – Oppressive Government or People?

It’s very sad that the Town of Fishers continues this battle to take over the Geist area. What most people living in Fishers do not understand what their government is doing or how they are going about this attempted take over? Just look at some of their resent actions.

Now they have gone to court to try and stop the population of Geist from forming their own town. They have asked Judge nation to stop the incorporation because they claim they filed first to annex. Here are some details: They claim because they were first with paperwork they win. OK so whomever files to run for office first wins the election, whichever horse jumps out of the gate first, wins the horse race. Maybe we should call it the “Fisher Rule” and use it in the courts all the time. And on top of that they didn’t even file the paperwork properly according to their own rules. You see Fishers can break the rules whenever it is in their favor.
Next they claim the people of Geist didn’t put together a good budget and their experts can prove it. Well, here we go again, the people of Geist used a budget expert, Fishers used the same person in the past, but when their expert was recently put on the spot he couldn’t answer the questions and admitted he was wrong on some of the numbers. Not only wrong but also very wrong, but also since he worked for Fishers it does not matter and they continue to claim the Geist numbers are wrong.

Bureau of Mis-Information, yes folks Fishers has a new executive level office of mis-information. Of course you will not fid it on their organizational chart, you see its friends of elected officials who go around and tell stories. They write letters to Indy-Star TalkBack complete with mis-information. My favorite right now is that the new Geist Fire Department has no future employees, no salary money and one broken down rehab fire truck. Well, the new fire department already has 2 million dollars in assets, trucks, boat, and ambulances and will have a budget of 1.8 million dollars in the new town for salaries and equipment upkeep, as well as a reserve to buy in new equipment. To top that off the budget has a 20-year plan for a new fire station. Its because some Fishers firefighter will lose their jobs if Geist forms their own department. See the next item on why. Another favorite is that the Geist people use all of Fishers Services for free. So when you see a Fishers Fire Truck in Geist, oh, they must be getting that for free. No way! The fire protection is costing the taxpayers of Fall Creek (includes Geist) 2.2 million a year. Its not free its 2.2 million a year. Now if Geist forms its own Fire Department Fishers losses 2.2 million a year. Why is Geist going to have to form a new department its because Fishers government leaders have flat out stated that Fishers would not provide any services should Geist form its own town. Did you know Fishers claimed for a while that Geist children were going to Fishers Schools? Yes they did, I can prove it. Until it was pointed out to them they don’t own the schools. Lately they have told some people the children will not be permitted to engage in sports activities if they are held in Fishers Parks, OK folks use the little kids as pawns. Of course they can’t do that, but they can say it to upset kids and parents. The Bureau of Mis-Information.

Oh, by the way the original annexation package did not have a new fire station, now since the new towns proved it needs a new station, Fishers when they redid their annexation package had to include a new fire station. Funny how that worked out.

Blackmail Department- What to built a home in an area outside, but next to Fishers? Did you know that the homebuilder had to sign a document that if they wanted to use the sewer system they had to agree to force the future homeowners to be annexed without any knowledge they will be annexed. Some people found this out during annexation when they objected. The builder can’t get permits to build unless they sign and they tell the homeowner what their taxes will be based on the un-incorporated area. Bingo you won a higher tax rate after you moved in without knowing it as you get annexed. So what, its only a 20% increase, so what if you have to sell your new home because you can’t afford your new higher taxes, someone else will buy your home.

Office of Oppression – Yes Fishers has one of those also, its hidden away in the basement of town hall, many levels down and you need a secret password to get to the office. Their job is to oppress people living outside of Fishers via annexations against their will and to use any means available. You see when a country invades and takes over parts of another country it’s called an invasion and oppression of the people. Many other countries get very upset and demand a pull back of forces. In the last century such invasions caused two World Wars. But in Indiana it’s called Annexation and under Indiana law its allowed. So Fishers is just using the law to its own means. Funny that this type of law only exists in 6 states and there are grass root efforts to get rid of all of them, such an effort has been underway in Indiana. But for now it’s still on the books. So if it’s on the books Fishers government officials go forward and say – It’s the law and we are using it. Well, guys if a law is wrong, work to change it not use it. But that would make Fishers morale and noble. Can’t have that.

Offices of Profit- Fishers citizens rejoice. The takeover of Geist is designed to make over 2 million dollars a year in profits for the town so they can spend even more money. At the local level we should not develop taxes to make profits and hurt people, no matter if they are rich or poor. Do you know that not everyone at Geist is rich, not everyone at Geist has unlimited income. We even have a lot of retired people who may have to sell and move with a 16+% property tax increase. But who cares? Do you realize the home values will go down as taxes go up, but who cares? Not the government of Fishers. Oh by the way I will make a bet with all you folks who live in Fishers, watch them claim they need an overall tax increase if the annexation is approved to help govern the new areas. Even with all the new money coming in they will claim that and go before the State and request another 5% property tax increase. After all it cost more than expected to round up all the Geist community. Just watch its coming.

So Judge Nation – its up to you, do you go with the government who bends the rules or with the people?

Well that’s my chant for today. Fishers hold a referendum on Geist annexation; you live in fear of that one, because 90% of the voters would vote you down.
