Greenwood Toastmasters anniversary

Toastmaters InternationalGreater Greenwood Toastmasters (GGTM) celebrates its 33-year anniversary. The official charter date was October 26, 1979. Since the inception of Toastmasters International President’s Distinguished Award, GGTM has achieved this honor for the past twelve years by meeting ten communication and leadership criteria, yearly. GGTM is an encouraging and growth-oriented group of twenty-five friendly members from a diverse background.

“Before joining GGTM, I had no knowledge of this illustrious organization. Several years ago, I was encouraged to join in order to think on my feet and speak more succinctly. GGTM has given me those opportunities and much more! My leadership skills have been honed by serving in 3 offices, most recently as President. The camaraderie and fun is only excelled by the communication and leadership skills that each member can practice, every single week. I love getting up early on Friday mornings to attend Toastmasters!” says member Karen Hogrefe.

Joining a Toastmasters group is one of the most nominal costs for Communications and Leadership. The experience and skills gained in Toastmasters is a great platform to take into facilitating meetings, giving presentations as well as confidence in impromptu speaking.

David Allen Dellinger, Club President, believes, “The Toastmasters organization is more relevant now than ever before as interpersonal communication skills appear to be waning in the face of modern “social” media. Joining GGTM has confirmed what he has thought all along – that ones communication skills is directly proportionate to ones overall success.”

Guests are welcome at GGTM. The club meets every Friday at 6:45 a.m. to 8:00 a.m., Community Hospital South, Conference Room, 1402 E. County Line Road, Indianapolis, IN 46227. Or check out the website at greenwood.toastmastersclubs.org.
