When most people think about the progression of a successful business, they might think about expansion. It’s pretty common for a growing business to desire more space, more employees and more services but for this local business, their perspective of success is more about the quality of what happens within their space over the size of the space itself. Sometimes, less truly is more.
Radiate 60 Hair Collective was established in 2016 from the desire to bring a positive change to the beauty industry, not only for clients but also for stylists as well. Owners Krystal Brown and Carly Rush wanted to create an environment that focused more on igniting beauty and life within a person rather than just transforming the outside.
“There are enough things in our world that only touch the surface level of our lives,” Brown says. “We knew God was calling us to create a space where we could go to deeper levels of relationship with our guests and where it was part of the culture to build each other up with love and encouragement.”
The salon started out at the Edge building in the heart of downtown Fishers and, over the last five years, they were able to grow and establish the foundation of who they were as a business. The model of the salon is a booth-rent environment that allows independent stylists to grow in their personal business while still working alongside a motivated team of like-minded stylists.
“It’s been so fun to look back over the years and see how our business has changed and evolved,” Rush says. “When COVID hit, we used that time to really ask God for direction for the future, and we both felt as if He was calling us to simplify our space so that we can narrow in on the important details that would help take our salon to the next level. That’s when we decided that a smaller space would allow us to grow with more intention.”
The new space is located off the roundabout on 106th and Lantern Road in Fishers (right around the corner from I Tre Mori). This change of scenery has provided better visibility for those driving by and the access to storefront parking has been a major perk for all.
The outpouring of positive reactions and support from guests has really confirmed that this move was the right next step for Radiate 60.
“Not only have our guests been so encouraging, but our team has been amazing through this transition,” Brown says. “They really trusted us through the process of all the ups and downs that come with moving and building out a new space. We honestly could not ask for more wonderful people to be on our team.”
“We have 10 amazing stylists that are so committed to our team and the vision,” Rush adds. “They know what Radiate 60 stands for and they invest in our space daily to ensure that a life-giving culture is prioritized. We are so thankful for them.”
