Founder Bo Railey has been a personal trainer since 1993, and brought the training method, called the SuperSlow program, to Zionsville 15 years ago.
“I like to help people and personal training is a great way to help people change their lives,” Railey said. “Your physical, mental and spiritual health are all very intimately connected. When you help somebody improve their physical health, you improve every aspect of their life. That’s why I enjoy personal training.”
Clients range from teenagers, including high school athletes, to adults in their 90s.
“There’s a number of reasons why people come in,” said Manager Sid Morris. “Helping clients reach their goals is the greatest achievement that we can do, and it’s what drives my passion.”
Exercise Inc employs personal trainers and each person works out one-on-one with a coach. Coaches will set up the routine and machines for that day’s workout and help the client through.
“My client doesn’t have to think too much,” Morris said. “They just have to go in there and perform and give it all they’ve got. It’s a high-intensity workout. You’ll do about five machines within the session to address all the major muscle groups of the body.”
There’s no music playing and no mirrors on the walls, and trainers wear dress shirts and slacks.
“When you go back in the room, the most you’ll have is three to four trainers at one time with their client,” said Morris, who just started his 19th year with the business. “We have our machines and we’re there to get the job done. We call it your personal, private, professional environment.”
In addition to the workouts, clients also receive a nutrition plan, regardless of what their goals are. Tracking is available for those who want to lose weight, while others may use the plan to learn about and adopt healthy habits.
“Since we started that program in 2013, we’ve helped our clients lose 35,000 pounds,” Railey said. “It’s called the Simple Nine, and it’s an educational coaching program where we help clients learn and adopt the nine most important habits they need to do to lose weight, and keep it off long-term.”
The first visit is a free consultation, during which the trainer goes over a health form and learns what their goals are. Clients learn more about the program and go through a short workout, allowing them to see what Exercise Inc is about and if it will be a good fit for them.
“It will help anyone who wants to get stronger, and do it in a very efficient way and only come to the gym once a week,” Railey said. “Strength training is the most important type of exercise you can do.”
There are various class packages available, starting with a 12-week program.
