Committing to a fitness routine can be challenging, but Fitness 19 in Middletown provides a motivational, family-oriented atmosphere that is close to home and can cater to any fitness level.

“Our emphasis lies within the community, we’re the neighborhood place where everyone in Middletown comes to works out,” says Owner & Operator Jim Bero, who opened the gym with his wife Erin in March 2008. “Fitness 19 is not a typical big box facility where you go in and you’re just a number. We create a unique bond with every person and know our members on a first-name basis.”

The recently remodeled and expanded facility now spans more than 10,000 square feet and offers amenities other clubs do not. The expansion has allowed for the creation of more than 30 group fitness classes a week,

ranging from low-impact options like yoga and Pilates to higher intensity boot camps and Zumba. The facility also features top of the line cardio equipment, machines and free weights.

“We can accommodate someone looking to do nearly any type of workout,” Bero says. “Our members have different needs so we accommodate what works best for each individual. It’s a great culture here, our members range from athletes to seniors, stay-at-home moms to bodybuilders, no judgment, everyone is welcome. It’s what sets us apart from the other gyms.”

The expansion also allowed for a larger and more private area to conduct personal training sessions. Qualified staff and personal trainers are available to tailor workouts based on your specific goals whether it be weight loss, gain, performance or overall health.

“We have some of the most experienced personal trainers in the area, and we require degrees and certifications that other gyms do not,” Bero adds.

Fitness 19 has several trainers who have been with the company for more than 10 years and continue to push and motivate clients to be their best. The friendly, community atmosphere is apparent from the moment you step into the gym. Members help one another with weight spotting and other needs and are always quick to share the benefits of the gym with prospective members who are touring the facility. The welcoming environment has led to friendships being formed even outside the gym. Fitness19 hosts member appreciation parties throughout the year to get members together in more social settings.

Jim and Erin Bero, who are expecting their third child, live just a mile from the gym and appreciate all the relationships they’ve made over the years.

“Middletown has become our home,” Bero says. “A lot of our members are friends outside of the facility as well. People keep coming back to Fitness 19 because they are happy with what we’ve done in the area.”

Memberships start at just $9 per month and are month-to-month with no long-term commitment. Packages with add-ons, including the option for onsite childcare, are also available. Fitness19 accepts Silver Sneakers and most insurance base programs, so many of their members see little to no out of pocket cost.

Fitness 19 is conveniently located in Middletown at the intersection of Shelbyville Rd and Blankenbaker Pkwy. at 109 Blankenbaker Parkway. Fitness 19 is open from 5 a.m. – 11 p.m. Monday – Thursday, 5 a.m. – 9 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Bero also opened a second Fitness 19 location off Lime Kiln Lane near Ballard High School in 2011.
