Local Bank Robbed, Suspect Tries to Cover Tracks

First Merchants Bank Robbery Fishers Police were dispatched at 10:36 am this morning to a bank robbery at the First Merchants Bank in front of Marsh Supermarket at 116th and Brooks School Road. According to police, Enrique Barahona of Indianapoils entered the bank with a gun and demanded money. He fled across 116th Street on foot and cut through some yards in Sandstone Village to his green Camaro getaway car parked nearby.

“It appears the suspect changed shoes after he reached his car,” said officer Weger with the Fishers Police Department. Barahona thought he could “cover his tracks” by changing shoes so that his footprints in the snow wouldn’t match the ones he was wearing when he was apprehended.

An unnamed witness noticed the car and was able to relay the license plate number and vehicle description.

“We overheard that Fishers Police was looking for a green Camaro on Fall Creek Road. I went south behind the two patrol cars already in pursuit,” said Office David Loyd with Neighborhood Patrol.

Barahona was southbound on Fall Creek Road at the 79th Street intersection and got into the eastbound turn lane. That’s when Fishers police turned on their lights and he surrendered without incident.

Barahona was charged with armed robbery, criminal confinement, theft, and driving while suspended.
