Beginning November 14, the ZCHS Drama Department will open its production of the classic Music_Man_Logo_posterBroadway musical, The Music Man, at the Zionsville Performing Arts Center (ZPAC). Written by Meredith Wilson, the musical revolves around con man Harold Hill, played by Max McCreary, who poses as a band organizer and leader that sells band instruments and uniforms to unsuspecting residents of the fictional small town of River City, Iowa. Harold Hill promises to train members of the local band, even though he is not a musician. His ultimate plan is to skip town without providing any music lessons. Harold’s plans run amok when he falls for the prim and proper young librarian and piano teacher, Marian Paroo, played by Annie Weidner.

In 1957, the show became a hit on Broadway winning five Tony Awards including Best Musical. It has been reproduced many times since on stage and in film. The show contains classic show tunes such as “(Ya Got) Trouble,” “Seventy-six Trombones,” “Gary, Indiana” and “Till There Was You.” The show will surely have you leaving the ZPAC singing one of these unforgettable songs. Come out for a great night of musical theater and support the ZCHS students and staff who have been working so hard to put on this production.

Performances are nightly at 7 pm between November 14-16 with a matinee performance November 16 at 2 pm. Tickets are $10 for students and $15 for adults.
