Palm Deli, located on Michigan Road in Zionsville, has been a hit with Boone County residents, as well as folks from surrounding counties, for a long time.

Co-owner Therese Helmy says she and her family are continuously complimented on their sandwiches.

“When we opened Mobil Zionsville over 12 years ago, we started getting a lot of loyal customers right away who have been with us for a long time,” Helmy says. “The food we serve has been a big reason why. We have always had the deli in the gas station since we opened, but we officially named it Palm Deli about a year and a half ago to give the deli its own identity.”

Helmy says Palm Deli’s co-owner, her brother Abe Abrahim, prepares fresh and delicious food that keeps people coming back for more.

“Abe has a passion for working in the kitchen and making food that we receive many compliments on all the time,” Helmy says. “We have even had radio deejays and radio talk show hosts talking about how good the food is.”

Helmy says Palm Deli’s signature gyros are the hottest item at the deli.

“They are really moist and juicy,” Helmy says. “They are my personal favorite. We use high-quality, premium meat. Customers can pick the vegetables they want on it. We drizzle the sandwiches with our special tzatziki sauce, and we can put your gyro on pita bread or in a tortilla wrap.”

The koftas are also a big hit.

“Koftas are like an Egyptian version of a hamburger,” Helmy says. “We use fresh ground beef. It’s fantastic. Our baba ghanoush is also excellent. It’s like an egg plant.”

Helmy says her deluxe sandwiches are also popular.

“We have Philly steak and cheese, and Italian roast beef sandwiches, among many other choices,” Helmy says. “We get a lot of compliments on our pizzas and gyro salads as well. We also serve an excellent breakfast and great smoothies, which are great on a hot day.”

Helmy is relieved to be fully open again after coronavirus-related restrictions on local businesses began to lift.

“That wasn’t an easy time for anyone,” Helmy says. “The nice thing is that people have really been coming back. Business has been very good and steady again. It’s been so nice to see all the friendly faces again.”

Helmy says the Zionsville community has been supportive since the business opened.

“Before we opened over 12 years ago, we prayed that we would find an ideal location for our business,” Helmy says. “We not only found an excellent location, we were also blessed to meet such sweet, kind and warm people from both the Zionsville community and other nearby neighborhoods. We encourage anyone who has not been here to please visit us soon.”
