The Fifty Club of Fishers issued its Unsung Hero Award to Angela Ellison of the Fishers Police Department and Neil Sullivan from Fishers Fire and Emergency Services. The awards were handed out in an April 27 ceremony at Knowledge Services.

The Fishers Nickel Plate Review Committee has provided partial approval for a new office building in the municipal complex along Municipal Drive. The AMP West building received one requested waiver from the Nickel Plate code, but will work with staff to resolve one issue on some outside building materials.

It was 2013 when the Indianapolis Business Journal (IBJ) named Scott Fadness, then Fishers town manager, as part of the newspaper’s Forty under 40 list. This year IBJ named Fadness, now mayor of Fishers, Alumni of the Year. Rachael Coverdale of Coverdale Consulting was named to the 2023 list of IBJ’s Forty under 40.

Ryan Homes unveiled plans for two housing projects in the eastern part of Fishers, with 96th Street to the south, 101st Street to the north, one near Cyntheanne Road and the other along Georgia Road. Ryan Homes’ attorney Murray Clark told the Fishers City Council that one section of single-family homes will be priced at about $600,000. The second section will feature ranch homes in the price range of $450,000 to $550,000.

The Fishers City Council unanimously put its seal of approval on a project agreement for the City Walk development, with a planned location south of 121st Street and west of Technology Lane. The $75 million development will be located along the Nickel Plate Trail. Fishers Economic Development Director Megan Baumgartner says there will be a variety of different housing types in this plan, including 87 for-rent multifamily units, 44 townhomes for sale, and 101 for-sale condominium units.

An April 14 motorcycle crash claimed the life of a Fishers man. The victim is identified as Dameion Dvail Ramsey, 39. The accident happened late in the evening at Southeastern Parkway and Jack Walker Lane.

The coming school year will see a few changes on the Hamilton Southeastern (HSE) schools calendar. For the 2023-2024 year, HSE will move the normal Friday day off before spring break to the Monday following spring break in 2024, allowing students to experience the full solar eclipse. The new calendar also reduces the number of eLearning days from three down to one.

FishersThe Fishers High School Robotics Team won the Indiana state championship in robotics competition. Robotics Coach Jeff Fronius says his squad now heads to Houston for the world championship.
