You Can Be a Pet Pal, Too
When you think about it, it’s pretty incredible just how much joy a pet can bring to your life. I should know.
Louie is the man of my house. He’s a Bernese Mountain Dog and he’s 120 pounds of love.
Maybe your recognize Louie. He helps me host Pet Pals TV each Saturday at 10:30 a.m. on WNDY-TV 23. Indiana’s Weatherman, Paul Poteet, also co-hosts this wonderful show, devoted to pet adoptions and the bond between pets and people.
We spotlight dogs like Raymond, a stray, starving Basset Hound who was taken to the Humane Society for Hamilton County. Turns out, he couldn’t swallow. We followed him as he got the surgery he needed. Today, Raymond is in a loving forever home. Our show saves lives.
We can also make your pet a star! Share your photos and stories with our online community at PetPalsTV.com We’ll pick the best ones for upcoming TV segments.
The other stars of our show are local businesses. We pair local businesses with local animal rescue groups. Businesses get television advertising while the rescue groups share their critical needs to our television audience. It’s truly a win-win.
I know how much a pet can improve your life. I retired from television after 23 years as an anchor and reporter at WISH-TV Channel 8. I have Meniere’s Disease, which causes severe hearing loss and vertigo. I was depressed, isolated and alone.
I thought, what would make me happy? I stumbled upon an old photo of me as a child, with my father, and our family dog. Just then, I decided to get a puppy.
This little puppy has grown into a handsome Bernese Mountain Dog who’s by my side today. Louie gave me the confidence to get out and enjoy life again.
