Center Grove Community School Corporation has finalized the sale of the West Grove Elementary School building located at 5800 West Smith Valley Road, Greenwood, to Southland Community Church. The school closed at the end of the 2009-10 school year. The church had been leasing the facility from the school corporation since the summer of 2010.

The Center Grove Board of School Trustees approved the sale of the building for approximately $670,000 at its August 15 meeting. Southland agreed to the terms of the purchase agreement which include a reversion clause prohibiting Southland from operating a K-12 school or selling to another entity that would operate a K-12 school in direct competition with Center Grove.

Center Grove will deposit the proceeds from the sale into the corporation’s Rainy Day Fund. The first $200,000 will be used to pay for staff professional development. The remaining balance will be held in the Rainy Day Fund and used for future construction projects.
