Business Spotlight: Copper Ridge Home Services

Writer  /  Christy Heitger-Ewing

After working in the electrical and plumbing repair industry for more than two decades, in 2014 Mike Fenrick opened Copper Ridge Home Services with his wife Janet. Eager to be in charge of quality control, their number one priority was to offer their customers fair pricing. Frustrated by the way that so many companies charge a fee simply for stepping foot on a property or charging exorbitant hourly rates, Mike created a fair and cost-friendly business model.

“It’s stressful enough to have to deal with an emergency situation like a flooded basement,” Fenrick says. “The last thing a customer needs is to be told that it’ll cost $90 to come out take a look and an additional $100 an hour for however long they’ll be there.”

At Copper Ridge Home Services they provide customers with a quote, right from the start, to avoid surprises and confusion. In addition, during their initial troubleshooting assessment, technicians offer multiple alternatives for how to proceed.

“We firmly believe in providing our customers with as many options as possible,” Fenrick says.

So, for instance, for the customer with the flooded basement, they provide a quote for what it will cost to fix the problem. They also identify other items that could be purchased to help prevent a recurrence — in this case, installing a backup sump pump. Because their pricing is guaranteed, should a technician encounter some unexpected circumstance along the way, the price won’t suddenly change.

Fenrick has every customer’s best interest at heart, but he’s especially empathetic to those with financial limitations. For instance, he recently installed handicap bars in an elderly person’s shower. Though the woman desperately needed the bars to keep herself safe, she was struggling to determine how she was going to pay for the service.

“We budget for such situations,” Fenrick says. In fact, sometimes he will perform jobs at little or no cost simply because he feels it’s the right thing to do. His customers appreciate his honesty and integrity. It’s why he has so many repeat, referral and word-of-mouth customers.

Plus, Fenrick and his five technicians are highly versatile. Trained to do electrical, plumbing and general contracting work, they’re equipped to tackle most any in-home situation. As a result, they do a lot of home inspection jobs for realtors as well as homeowners. Being a “one-stop-shop” makes the work go more quickly and the closings go more smoothly.

Besides repairs, Copper Ridge Home Services installs recessed and landscape lighting, tankless water heaters, battery back-up sump pumps, generators and whole home surge protection.

“We guarantee every bit of our work, no matter what it is,” says Fenrick, noting that people are often initially leery when their technicians come out simply because they’ve been burned by contractors in the past. Once they see firsthand that Fenrick and his crew are the real deal, however, they become loyal customers.

When you call Copper Ridge Home Services, they will typically come out for a free inspection within 24 hours. To learn more, call 317-839-6100 or visit copperridgehomeservices.com.
