Stepping into the expansive, 13,000-square-foot RG Decor showroom near 96th Street and Michigan Road can result in a transformative experience. Anyone looking for complete interior design work or simply upgrading their space with modern, American-made furniture and accents will come away inspired at the very least.
“Our showroom isn’t your typical showroom,” says Founder and Interior Designer Karen King. “We have full vignettes that look like living rooms or bedrooms, each designed to inspire and excite. People can walk around and get inspiration for their homes or browse and shop our selection. Some people don’t know their style but might want to incorporate a family heirloom into their home and design a room around it.”
RG Decor’s reputation for full-service interior design and elegant furniture options continues to grow. “Anecdotally, we often hear people wish they knew about us before shopping at a big-box store,” King says. “Many people are surprised when they walk into our showroom about its uniqueness and how many things they fall in love with.”
RG Decor has established itself as an expert in interior design at every level, from choosing a new statement piece to a whole-home remodel.
“Our degreed designers work extensively to meet our clients’ needs,” King says. “Our initial step is to meet clients and get to know them. We like to ask many questions about their home, its occupants and their goals. Once we understand their vision, we present them with a design plan and work closely with them to bring it to life. It’s their money we’re using to make changes to their home, and we want them to love their home after we’re finished with their project.”
Fall 2024 Trends
King says interior design trends come and go, but one she’s seeing more of for fall is incorporating more color into home decor. This can add vibrancy and personality to a space. Textures are also a big trend for the fall, and they can add depth and visual interest to a room. King says incorporating one piece, like a new rug, in a different color or texture, can be a fun way to change up the personal style of a home.
“We’re seeing people wanting to incorporate and embracing some of the more traditional furniture styles,” King says. “Also, not everything has to be just a clean line. There are some curves, so that makes things a little bit interesting, to have a bit more than just straight lines. And we’re seeing a little more personality than cold and gray, which has been popular in previous years.”
King says many people come to RG Decor looking for help on how to incorporate these trends into their homes. What is en vogue comes and goes, but even small changes can make a huge difference. King says style is important, but a home has to be comfortable as well.
RG Decor works with homeowners who are custom-building their dream homes. The design team works alongside the builder to oversee the entire process. From selecting construction finishes to choosing wall coverings to planning all the furnishings, RG Decor is there step by step.
King’s passion for custom interior design and creating beautiful spaces has paid off. She has participated in six previous Home-A-Rama shows, walking away with the coveted People’s Choice Award twice.
RG Decor’s showroom is located at 4341 West 96th Street in Indianapolis, and is open to the public.
