Pizza King is once again serving the Jamestown community.

Owner Michelle Standeford is excited to bring the newly opened Pizza King back to the community.

To Standeford, love of the “Friday night pizza night” tradition was a huge motivator to open Pizza King in Jamestown. Growing up, she had fond memories of visiting the Pizza King in Lebanon, particularly when she would visit her grandparents on a Friday night before going to the auction house. As a parent raising her sons, Friday pizza night was a tradition at Pizza King along with sports games. Standeford wanted to create these lasting memories for her community.

“I hope that what I have built will carry on to my grandchildren and beyond,” says Standeford.

Having worked in addiction recovery for the last nine years, Standeford assisted women in recovery as a guiding and mentoring figure who offered resources with the goal of reuniting women with their children. With a mental load weighing on her, Standeford wanted to find another way to help her community. With Pizza King Jamestown, Standeford gets the opportunity to employ people in recovery and those experiencing life difficulties, giving them a job to create stability.

“People smile when they pick up pizzas and it’s great therapy for me,” says Standeford.

Pizza might be just dough, sauce, cheese and toppings, but the Pizza King team sets itself apart from competitors with their pizza-making process. “We are edge-to-edge sauce, cheese and toppings, and traditionally baked on large stones,” says Standeford. “The process we use to create the lightly salted crust has always been a draw – and the fact that we use only fresh pizza dough.”

The pizza comes in 7-, 10- or 14-inch sizes, with your own toppings or a choice of specialty pizzas. Cauliflower crust and crustless pizza are also options. The menu also includes breadsticks, salads, “subwiches”, which are freshly made-to-order sub sandwiches, as well as the additions of cheesy garlic sticks and chicken wings. Standeford says they will be introducing new items over time.

Unique to Jamestown Pizza King, their dessert menu includes Cochran’s Cake Pops, cookies and cupcakes. Previously, Rodney Cochran and his wife, Betty, opened Jamestown Pizza King/Cochran’s Pizza King in 1983 and operated it for 23 years with their two daughters, Amy and Beth.

“I appreciate the work that the Cochrans put into not only the Pizza King during their ownership, but the business they continue for our community through the bake shop and catering business,” says Standeford.

Since opening on Veterans Day, the community has been very receptive to Pizza King in Jamestown.

“We are very appreciative of the welcome we have received from local businesses, and of the support of our customers,” says Standeford. “We honestly have a community of persons that appreciate that we are here and they show their appreciation in their patronage.”

That community support also includes the generosity of local business Warren Mechanical, and an anonymous donor, who have provided over $500 worth of gift cards for those in need.

Pizza King Jamestown is located at 49 West Main Street, and is open daily for call-ahead (765-676-1649) and online ordering.
