2007-2008 Student Athletes and Performing Artists of Character

Sixty Lawrence Central and Lawrence North seniors were selected as “2008 Student Athletes and Performing Artists of Character.” Coaches and performing arts teachers nominated students from their respective sport or performing arts activity. The final fifteen for each group, 15 athletes and 15 performing artists from each high school, were selected by the athletic director and coaches and the performing arts director and teachers. Selected students must meet the school district’s character expectations and standards.

At the November 21 Lawrence Central and Lawrence North basketball game, all 60 students were honored and received specially designed Students of Character key chains and pens. Their parents were also recognized. Each student also received a poster featuring the 30 Students of Character. These posters are displayed in both high schools.
The Students of Character Recognition is but one other way the school district emphasizes its “Caring About Character” initiative. Sponsors include the Lawrence Township Schools, the Lawrence Township School Foundation and The Studio by Mark A. Rice.
